Michael Atkinson Resigned!!

So, even though he won the seat of Croydon in SA's recent elections, Michael Atkinson MP has resigned from the front bench of the SA House of Representatives, in turn sacrificing his job as the Attorney-General of South Australia.

Michael Atkinson was the only man blocking the passing of an R18 rating for video games in Australia. Hopefully, the new person won't be a puppet of Atkinson's. As well as that, gone is a man who is a prominent supporter of the Internet Censorship scheme, as well as the man who introduced a law stating that all internet bloggers commenting on politics must put their real name and post code after their comment, then backflipped on this law upon realising how stupid it was.

So, he's finally retired. Maybe the new Attorney-General won't be so oppressive?

R.I.P. Mark Linkous (1962-2010)

I'm a little late, but I only just heard about this, and I can't not write a tribute.

Mark Linkous was a brilliant, brilliant musician. Under the name Sparklehorse, Linkous wrote some of the best music I've ever heard, and although he never achieved any commercial success, Linkous counted Radiohead, PJ Harvey, the Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Patti Smith, Steve Albini, and many more famous figures amongst his fans.

He always did have one of the most emotionally charged voices. Apparently all he sung about was true.

Mark wrote some beautiful music, and his final solo album as Sparklehorse especially ("Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain") is one of my favourites of all time. It is beautiful. We were lucky to have him, even for the short time that we did.

Rest in peace, Mark. You will always be missed.
